Text Editor
Here's how to add the code patch to your chosen page using a Text Editor.
** Note: when you save your page after adding the WebRing Code make sure you save it as HTML. **
1.) Decide where you want the WebRing Logo to appear: usually somewhere near the bottom of your html page.
2.) Open your html page in a text editor like "Word Pad": I use "Edit Pad Lite" because it lets me open several documents at the same time and just click between them. But any text editor will do the job.
3.) Find the place in your html page that you want
the code patch to be placed and, on a blank line, press "Enter" a
few times to open up an area to place the code patch. Make sure you don't
"break" any command tag. Just above
</body>
</html>
is a good place.
Leave your cursor there while you go get the code.
4.) Now leave the window sit there and go to the
email you received when you submitted your site to the WebRing. You will find the code for
your the WebRing in it. Copy the whole code starting with
<!--START OF ______ WEBRING CODE--> all the way thru
<!--END OF ______ WEBRING CODE--> .
If you are not sure how to copy and paste Click Here.
5.) Now go back to the Text Editor and you should see your cursor right where you left it. If the cursor is not there place your cursor in the box where you want the ring graphics to appear.
6.) Now paste the ring code where you curser is at.
7.) Now, save the page as HTML.
Your page is now ready to be up-loaded to your server.
The last step is to up-load the html code to your server.
Now load your page in your browser, tell it to reload or refresh and see that the new portion is working correctly.
That should be it. You can preview the page and the
image should show up and all the links should be working. If you have a problem with this
