 Knowing the will of God Through Submission to the Spirit

    The moment a repenting sinner receives Christ by faith into his or her heart the
Holy Spirit immediately does five things:

1.)    He regenerates the believer, that is, He gives the believer a new nature. {John 3:5,6 Titus 3:5}

(John 3:5 NIV)  Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

(John 3:6 NIV)  Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.

2.)    He baptizes the believer into the body of Christ. {1 Corinth 12:13}

(1 Cor 12:13 NIV)  For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks,         slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

3,) He indwells the believer. {Romans 8;9;1 Corinth 6:19}

(Rom 8:9 NIV)  You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.

4.)    He seals the believer. {Eph 1:13, 4:30}

(Eph 1:13 NIV)  And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,

(Eph 4:30 NIV)  And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

5.)    He fills the believer. {Acts 2:4, 4:8, 7:55, 13:52}

(Acts 2:4 NIV)  All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

(Acts 4:8 NIV)  Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: "Rulers and elders of the people!

(Acts 7:55 NIV)  But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

(Acts 13:52 NIV)  And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
