It Takes Time
October 24, 2004
Philippians 1: 3--11
Point to Ponder: There is no shortcuts to Maturity.
Spiritual growth, like physical growth, takes time. We worry about how fast we grow; God is concerned about how strong we grow.
Why does spiritual growth take so long? WE ARE SLOW LEANERS!!
We quickly forget Gods lessons and revert to our old behavior. We have a lot to unclean.
The Bible calls this taking off the old self and putting on the new self
(Eccl 3:1 NIV) There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
Theres only one way to develop the habits of Christlike character: practice them over time. There are no instant habits. Repetition is the mother of character and skill.
(1 Tim 4:15 NIV) Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.
(Habakkuk 2:3 NIV) For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.
Be patient with God and with yourself. Dont get discouraged.
