This months Cyber-Church sermon is by Pastor Jim West. Pastor Jim was the founder of Cyber-Church.com. At the time of his homegoing in January 2000 Pastor Jim had a  number of messages   waiting for publication. Therefore, in accordance with the Lord's leading, we are posting them over the next few months. Pastor Jim's  messages are for the most part in outline form. Wrath of God

Read Romans 1:18-25

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

We must understand the "Wrath of God."

The wrath of God was very present in the old testament, under the old covenant: Man had separated himself from God.
His connection, his fellowship was broken. . . .

God said, "I want YOU to serve ME!"

Man said, "I want YOU to serve ME!"

And God promised them His wrath: Poured it out on them!

But His wrath under the new covenant is simply His absence!

Paul said, (1:13) "Now, I would not have you ignorant, brothers." We "have not because we ASK not", NOT because we "know not"! For Deuteronomy 29:29, says, The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which
are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law." And we know that that law is now written in our hearts.

Let's read verse 20:

For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, EVEN THE ETERNAL POWER AND GODHEAD; so that they are without excuse:

And Paul still says, "I would not have you ignorant!"

And this scripture says we did not glorify God AS God: that we changed the incorruptible God into our own image! And our foolish heart was darkened!

BUT WE KNOW BETTER! The invisible things from Him are made manifest! They are revealed! And we can have a better Life! If we will accept Him AS HE IS and not get caught up in our VAIN IMAGINATIONS: If will NOT try to put Him in OUR OWN IMAGE, we can have "Life more abundantly!" And we CAN see Him AS HE IS!

But we can choose to not see Him!

Abraham could have chosen not to see Him as He is - but old Abraham was too smart for that!

Romans 4:20

He (Abraham) staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

And the promises: the New Covenant is to ALL who will believe! (ALL things are possible to those who believe!)

Some of those promises are:

Romans 5:1-2

Peace with God. There can be no wrath when there is peace!

We stand in His grace. Steadfast - without wavering - without doubt - against all odds!

No matter what the circumstances!
No matter what the evidence!
No matter what the situation!
After having done all, WE STAND in His grace!

We can glory in tribulation if we are strong in faith!
We can have patience from the tribulations!
We can have experience from the patience!
We can have hope from the experience!
AND the hope will make us not ashamed! bold! unafraid!
We have the Love of God washing our hearts by the Holy Ghost!

Romans 5:9 -

Much more then, being now justified by His blood, WE SHALL BE SAVED FROM WRATH THROUGH HIM. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, MUCH MORE, being reconciled, we shall be
saved by His life.

We are SAVED FROM WRATH THROUGH JESUS CHRIST!

We are delivered from tribulation through Jesus Christ!

No longer bound by satan - no longer at the mercy of God's enemies, like under the old covenant, but we have been -
Planted with Jesus in his death! and - Raised to eternal life (and that MORE ABUNDANTLY) by Jesus' resurrection!

We can walk in "newness of life!"

We can have that "newness of life", and not walk in it.

So what is the key?

Abraham counted those things that were not, as though they were - AND THEY BECAME!

IT IS BY FAITH!

If we respond to God with faith! If we believe He is not a liar! That He means what He says! That every promise He made is for us! That Jesus has said, "Ask what you will and I will do it!" Then the windows of heaven will open and God will pour out blessings on us that we have never imagined!

So instead of imagining God is like us - (vain imaginations!) That He has our limitations! That He cannot keep His Word!
Let us imagine God IN HIS GLORY!

The Power already here! The Peace already here! The Promises already here! The Deliverance already here! The ANSWER already here! The VICTORY already here!

The answer is: FAITH

Let's put on our garment of praise, our shield of faith and Stand on His Promises - - IN HIS GRACE!!
