SEPTEMBER
2000 - PASTOR JIM WEST
Greetings in the Name of Jesus!
This months Cyber-Church sermon is by Pastor Jim West. Pastor
Jim was the founder of Cyber-Church.com. At the time of his homegoing in January 2000
Pastor Jim had a number of messages waiting for publication. Therefore, in
accordance with the Lord's leading, we are posting them over the next few months. Pastor
Jim's messages are for the most part in outline form. We will post them as he left
them and trust the Holy Spirit to fill in any gaps. We pray you too will be blessed by the
teachings of this Godly Saint that is now with the Lord. God bless you and yours

The Holy Spirit in Isaiah
The Book of Isaiah was written more than 500 years before the
birth of Christ.
4:4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters
of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst of it by the spirit
of judgment {decision}, and by the spirit of burning. {the cleansing Spirit} The
judgemental decision was made that daughters of Zion were (sexually) filthy with the blood
of Jerusalem and the sentence was that they were to be purged by fire. The thought is of
metal being separated from it's dross by melting with fire.
11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and
understanding {discernment}, the spirit of counsel {purpose} and might {strength, power},
the spirit of knowledge {perception, skill} and of the fear {respect, reverence, awe} of
the LORD;
John saw the beginning of this in John 1:32: "And John bare record, saying, I saw the
Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him."
Luke 4:18-19 The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach
the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance
to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are
bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Question: Was Jesus here quoting from what He had written in Isaiah, OR was He in Isaiah
looking forward 500 years and quoting
from what was His reality at that time?
Col 2:9-10 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the
Godhead bodily. And ye are complete{*} in him, who is the head of all principality and
power:
{*} to make full, to fill up, i.e. to fill to the full: to cause to abound, to furnish or
supply liberally: to render full, i.e. to complete: to fill to the top: so that nothing
shall be wanting to: full measure, fill to the brim:
61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD [is] upon me; because the LORD hath
anointed {to smear, anoint, consecrate} me to preach good tidings to the meek; he hath
sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening
of the prison to [them that are] bound; 61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,
and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; 61:3 To appoint to them
that mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the
garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of
righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified.
26:9 With my soul have I desired {hungered for} thee in the night; yea, with my spirit
{Isaiah's spirit} within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments [are] in the
earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. {This is "hungering and
thirsting after righteousness"} {This is blessing the LORD with the soul}
Matthew 5:6 Blessed [are] they who hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they shall be
filled.
Psalm 103:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, [bless] his holy name.
29:10 For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep
sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.
{He has allowed them to lapse into a trance.} {turned them over to a reprobate mind}
30:1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel {get advice,
purpose}, but not from me; and that cover {they cast metal images} with a covering {molten
image, molten god}, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:
There is now a proliferation of "psychics" on television. Dianne Warwick invites
you to call the "Psychic Network" for advice on all your undertakings. This
scripture indicates this is idol-worship. People not only worship the idols but by their
support, they
are "casting" them. It is sin to make idols AND sin to worship them: "add
sin to sin"
32:15 Until the spirit shall be poured {emptied} upon us from on
high, and the wilderness {un-usable, uninhabited land} shall be a fruitful field
{garden-land, orchard, fruit orchard - not large} , and the fruitful field shall be
counted for a forest {a heavily-grown wooded height}.
Then judgement shall come on the useless wilderness and God's blessings on the productive
fruit orchid. Notice that the fruitful field itself was not large but largeness was
imputed to it as the Spirit was emptied on it.
40:13 Who hath directed {weigh out, mete out} the Spirit of the
LORD, or {being} his counsellor hath taught {made Him known, declared} him?
The answer, of course, is Jesus Christ Who is the Baptizer in the Holy Ghost. Jesus
promises Him, Provides Him and does the baptizing.
42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; my elect, [in whom] my soul
delighteth; I have put {to give, bestow, grant, permit, ascribe, employ, devote,
consecrate, dedicate} my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
This prophetically speaks of Jesus, but we also are God's Elect.
44:3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon
the dry ground: I will pour my spirit {cause My Spirit to flow} upon thy seed, and my
blessing upon thy offspring:
If you are thirsty for things of God and the latter rain has been a long time coming, your
time of refreshing is at hand. For you and yours!
48:16 Come ye near to me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret
from the beginning; from the time that it was, there [am] I: and now the Lord GOD, and his
Spirit, hath sent me {let me loose, extended me, stretched me out}. If you will draw near
to Him, He will draw near to you. There is nothing you need that is hidden from you and
wherever the need is, there He is!
59:19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising
of the sun. When the enemy shall come {fall upon, attack} in like a flood {as from an
underground river, a sneak attack}, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard
against him. {to fly (to the attack) on horseback}
And that standard is Jesus Christ.
59:21 As for me, this [is] my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My
spirit that [is] upon thee, and my words which I have put {to put, set, lay, put or lay
upon, lay (violent) hands on} in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of
the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from
henceforth and for ever. {because they were so 'violently' or 'strongly' put there.}
It is with those on whom the Holy Ghost exerts His strong influence that God has made His
covenant. God is ever concerned with words. Our salvation is by our testimony (words). Our
deliverance is by our confession (words). Nothing spiritual is available except from the
mouth of God.
